Data science and AI as an SME
Dominic Brunner (Managing Director of ControlTech Engineering AG) and Stefan Kramberg (data expert) were guests at the Haus der Wirtschaft in Pratteln.
Around 35 guests came to the Haus der Wirtschaft in Pratteln to talk about digitalization and listen to six keynote speeches. Short panel discussions focused on the biggest challenges. "We were approached by Basel Area, which supported us with the Data Science Framework project," explained Dominic Brunner, Managing Director of ControlTech Engineering AG in Liestal. In an increasingly networked, dynamic world, it makes sense to have as much data as possible available in the company at the touch of a button. SMEs in particular should find out about the possibilities and create IT infrastructures in order to utilize and protect their own internal company data accordingly.
Digitization as an opportunity for SMEs
"For me personally, it was interesting to hear what other companies are driving forward in the area of digitalization," reflected Dominic Brunner after the event. CTE gave a presentation on the approach to the Data Science Framework. Stefan Kramberg, data expert at CTE, looked back on the standardized process with target definition, data screening and assessment: "The DSF is a navigation system to get to your destination. It brings together the required experts."
It is important to both digitalization specialists that small SMEs also understand how important their data is. CTE used the DSF project to show where difficulties can arise and what the important aspects are. "Above all, we presented our DSF pilot project and our findings after ten months," explains Dominic Brunner, demonstrating that it takes courage, perseverance and openness to manage such a pilot project. It is only with the new partnership with Learning Machines GmbH that the pilot project gains fresh momentum. But then, in just three months, the AI dashboard is created as a demonstrator for time series, measured values and automatic evaluations. "We are absolutely delighted with how we can now demonstrate the perfect batch using a 3D quality hose," concludes Dominic Brunner.
