"We are going one step further with the new building"

Our new building has been under construction at the Liestal site since summer 2024 - with 50 modern workstations, bright offices and plenty of space for collaboration. After around 16 months of construction, during which part of our team worked in a temporary building, the time has finally come: we are all back together under one roof.

From planning to shell construction to moving in - in the short videos, our HR manager Daniela Brunner provides exciting insights into the process and shows the path to our new-build project step by step.

A brief review

Over the summer months of 2024, the old building has disappeared. ControlTech Engineering AG has been based at Benzburweg 5 in Liestal for over 20 years. CTE bought the building in 2001 and moved in with around 35 employees. As is the case today, some employees worked directly at the customer's premises, some were at Benzburweg 7 (now Pichler AG) and around ten people worked in the new building.

Space quickly became tight. CTE grew continuously. The ground-breaking ceremony for the new building at Benzburenweg 5a took place in 2014. We were able to move into the building two years later, in 2016. But eight years later, the space has become cramped again.

As you can imagine, we will have to juggle a lot with working from home and job sharing until 2025. But we are confident and look forward to the result. We are getting ready for the future and believe that we need space, modern workplaces and perfect infrastructures so that our employees feel comfortable.

First insights into the concept in fall 2024

"Open doors have always encouraged interaction here. With the new building, we are going one step further: new meeting zones are being created that invite ideas to flow freely," explains Daniela Brunner. With the new building, CTE wants to offer around 50 employees a modern workplace next summer. It should be bright, modern and attractive. For an innovative engineering company that combines enthusiasm for technology with a lively and cool corporate culture!

"It gives me great pleasure to create something beautiful for our CTE team and I look forward to taking everyone on this exciting journey. I will keep you regularly informed about our progress," promises Daniela Brunner.

The anticipation of what is to come is huge.

"We will not only have more space, but also ultra-modern workstations," says our HR manager Daniela Brunner happily. "Together with the office planning experts from WSA OFFICE PROJECT, we are currently working intensively on the interior design. The valuable results that our employees have developed together with WSA in workshops are also being incorporated."

The topping-out ceremony for the new ControlTech Engineering AG building was celebrated at the end of February 2025. Another important milestone on the way to 50 new jobs, which will be created by summer 2025. A tour of the building shell gives an insight into what the new premises will look like.

New building in May 2025: a milestone to celebrate

A lot has happened since the video shoot at the end of February. On Friday, May 16, 2025, our new building celebration took place in the shell of the building - a special moment that we celebrated together with our customers, partners and friends.

We have been working intensively on the planning and implementation of our new building since summer 2024. The first insights into the concept were provided in the fall of 2024 with the video by Daniela Brunner. Now, a good six months later, we were able to show how the new workplace is slowly taking shape at a social event on site.

In glorious weather, not only was a toast raised in the shell of the building, but also a look back: to over 20 years at the site on Benzburweg in Liestal, to the growth from around 35 employees in 2001 to the current size of the company - and of course to the future.

Deciding together: Who moves into the new building?

At the beginning of August, the interior work is almost complete - and this raises two key questions: How do we distribute the teams? And above all: who decides?

The answer: together. Ina cross-departmental meeting, employees from all departments discussed, planned and decided what the room layout in the new building should look like. In the video below, our HR manager Daniela not only provides an up-to-date insight into the new building, but also shows how we at CTE work together - even before the first desks are in place.

After around 16 months of construction, the time has come: we have moved in!

50 new workstations have been created and the entire team is back together under one roof. During the construction phase, some of our employees were housed in a temporary office - so we are all the more pleased to be able to start working together again.

But in times of working from home, remote working and virtual collaboration, the question arises: Do we still need an office at all ?

After all, direct exchange, spontaneous knowledge transfer and interdisciplinary collaboration can hardly be replaced digitally. Discussions with colleagues who are working on completely different projects and topics promote new ideas and perspectives. This not only strengthens our team, but also benefits our customers.

So an office is not "irrelevant" - it is a conscious contribution to our joint success. In the video we show impressions of the move, captured by our employees.

...and how does the team like it?

For the first time since construction work began, all the teams are working under one roof again. How does that feel? We asked them. In the new video, our employees tell us how they like it in the new building, what their favorite place is and how communication has changed.

First things first: the coffee machine and the spacious roof terrace are very popular - places where people meet, share ideas or simply take a breather. This is exactly how we envisioned it: a working environment that connects.

The new building not only stands for growth, but also for cohesion. For a working environment in which exchange, team spirit and innovation find their place - day after day.
