"The development of our product catalog has provided a lot of clarity, especially internally"
Optimizing processes ensures efficiency. The experts at ControlTech Engineering AG (CTE) know this. However, this is much more challenging for internal projects than for customer projects in the fields of automation, industrial IT or data management.
ControlTech Engineering AG (CTE) from Liestal focuses on automation and industrial IT. It also has extensive expertise in the field of data management. CTE thus increases plant flexibility and efficiency by means of integrated automation concepts, the necessary IT infrastructure and intuitive visualization. This in turn ensures profitability and safety in production. The more than 80 employees are familiar with digitalized systems and the project management of complex projects. However, there is not always enough time for the company's own processes alongside day-to-day business: "The development of our product catalog has provided a lot of clarity, especially internally," explains Dominic Brunner, Managing Director of CTE. The clearer the interaction works, the more efficient the process becomes. CTE has specialized in automation for over 30 years. But that's not all: automation processes also require industrial IT. "To round off our offering, we are now also focusing on data management," adds Dominic Brunner.
Since the end of March, an illustrative product catalog has shown the perfect interplay between all areas. The customer-centric approach is now deeply rooted in the corporate culture. The core team of Ronny Wasmer (Automation), Michael Gempp (Industrial IT), Stefan Kramberg (Data Management), Patrick Hablützel (User Experience) and Noemi Wannenmacher (Marketing/Communications) has been working flat out on structuring the product catalog since the new website went live before Christmas 2023. "The dependencies between the individual areas are not always crystal clear," says user experience expert Patrick Hablützel. But the website needs crystal-clear assignments. The examination of the detailed description of the respective product in turn led to discussions. Together, we worked out which service should solve which problem for the customer - and which skills ControlTech Engineering needed to do so. Always with the focus on presenting our offer to our customers in an understandable way.
The next step is to optimize the product catalog for the different target groups. Which individual services can be combined into a package? CTE offers solutions - not just products. This is where the core team wants to start. Always with the customer in mind. The seven product families from Automation Solutions, Operational Support to Engineering Services, Custom Tools, Security Solutions and Infrastructure through to Data Solutions are in place. As are the 40 or so product names. "Backup & Recovery", "Programming" and "Data Hub" are just a few of the terms that have since become established.
However, there is not yet a detailed page for each offer: "We will now continue to work on this," explains Noemi Wannenmacher, who is responsible for communication and marketing. She knows how important process management is for internal projects too: "We have all realized that we have to follow a clear project process for ourselves and our customers. Then it works well."
